From a Poison Ivy Plant Cell

Part 1:

• Note the suggested analogies for each of the following terms.
• You may change the analogies; however, follow the listed rules:
• The analogies must represent structure and/or function or best both.
• The analogies must be something in or part of a haunted house, castle, etc...
• Use any resources (ie text, notes, pictures) to help you with the assignment.
• Note: some terms are found in other structures (ie. nucleolus must be found inside the nucleus.)
• Note: some terms below may have the same analogy (ie. a ribosome is a ribosome no matter if it is floating or attached; same with endoplasmic reticulums).
• All new analogies must be cleared first prior to doing Part 2.

Part 2:

• Only two/three+ days to work on it as a group (may work on anytime during school); all work is to be done in class unless cleared with Mr. B first.
• Bring all necessary materials and stay on task (otherwise, an alternative assignment may be given)
• You may use parts, pieces, structures, things, figures, for your organelles based off your (analogy sheet). However; no food/candy products of any kind and if you want to draw something, it must be cleared by Mr. B first.
• You will need a box (plant cell) (i.e. shoe or shirt/pants (best) box) or you may make your own box.
• Do not forget about building materials (i.e. glue, scissors, tape, etc…) [Put your name on the things you bring or keep it in your locker – not responsible for lost or stolen items]
• You may add anything (may need to ask permission) to your project to help explain an analogy or provide creativity.
• An (oral quiz) will accompany the project when being graded. Each member will be asked 1 or 2 questions about what the organelle/structure is and/or what the organelle/structure does.
