as bound with them;

and them which suffer adversity,

as being yourselves in the body.

Prayer Requests for August 31-September 6

Sunday, please pray for Saba, 13, and Aneela Masih, 10, of Pakistan who were kidnapped by Muslims on June 26. Their father, Younis Masih, has sued for the return of his daughters. “A custody battle in Pakistan over two Christian girls kidnapped and allegedly forced to convert to Islam remained inconclusive after a hearing today, with rights advocates for the family suspecting Muslim fundamentalists of pressuring the minors and a medical board. Judge Malek Saeed Ejaz of the Lahore High Court’s Multan Branch set the next hearing for Sept. 9 after a two-hour proceeding. Lawyers for the Masih family said that if the girls are not returned to their parents at the next hearing they will appeal to the Pakistani Supreme Court. Until then, Aneela and Saba Masih will remain at Multan’s Dar Ul Rahman women’s shelter, where they have stayed since a July 29 hearing.” The girls were forced to say they had converted to Islam. A Muslim forced Saba into marriage, and she has been threatened into lying about her age so that the courts will recognize the marriage. The courts refused to accept her birth certificate and baptismal records as proof of her age. Please pray that the courts will find in the family’s favor.”(Open Doors, Compass News Direct)

Monday, please pray for the conversion of Muslims around the world. Ramadan begins today. “Ramadan is the time of year that Muslims from around the world will fast from sunrise to sunset. They believe that this will earn them merit and bring them closer to Allah (God). There are many testimonies of Muslims experiencing Jesus through a dream or a vision during Ramadan.” (Open Doors)

Tuesday please pray for the Christians of Yemen. “In Yemen, in just the last few months, 7 to 9 converts to Christianity have been imprisoned (see sidebar) by the Yemeni secret police. The secret police are very brutal and have killed a number of Yemenis. They report to the country’s president who gives them protection from any criminal liability for their actions.” (International Christian Concern)

Wednesday please for the Christians of China. “China’s Communist Party (CPC) will launch a nationwide crackdown on four “unstable social elements” in October, CAA reported on Monday (August 18). These elements were listed as illegal Christian house church leaders, petitioners, human rights defenders and political dissidents. (Open Doors, Compass Direct News, China Aid Association)

Thursday please pray that justice will be done following the murder of a Saudi Arabian girl who became a Christian. “Recently, a Saudi member of the religious police cut his daughter’s tongue off and burned her to death for converting to Christianity. The father, who works for the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, killed his daughter following a debate on religion, according to a report by the United Arab Emirates-based Gulf News.” (me, Voice of the Martyrs)

Friday please pray for the Christians of Nigeria where Shariah law has been introduced in the northern state of Bauchi. Muslims claimed that Shariah law would not affect Christians, but they have now outlawed co-ed education in all junior and senior high schools. (International Christian Concern)

Saturday please pray for the Christians of Orissa state, India, where violence against Christians is escalating. “On August 23, widespread violence erupted against Christians following the assassination of World Hindu Council leader Swami Lakshmananda Saraswati, the alleged mastermind behind the December 2007 attacks on believers in Kandhamal, Orissa State. Saraswati was killed with four of his followers. 30 men believed to be Maoist extremists, stormed a religious center in Kandhamal and opened fire, VOM contacts reported. "Despite evidence indicating that Maoists are responsible for Saraswati’s murder, several Hindu militant groups have blamed Christians," VOM contacts said. "As a result, Hindu militants have launched attacks on Christians throughout the state, setting buildings on fire and beating and killing believers in at least 12 districts.” (Voice of the Martyrs)

Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee: according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die.  Psalm 79:11

To help the Christians of Yemen:

Here’s How You Can Help

#1 Pray: The first thing you can do to help

is stop right now and ask the Lord to open the prison doors.

#2 Next, review our petition4. Yemeni officials are concerned

about their relationship with the United States and other

Western countries, so when Westerners shout, they will listen.

We have also found that evil prefers to stay in hiding and

when we shine the light on it, it runs.

So help us to shine the light on the Yemeni secret police.

#3 Electronically sign the petition by going to: https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/International ChristianConcer/OnlineSignupTwo.html

#4 Print out the petition4 and take it to your church and have

everyone you know sign it. Send it back to us so we can

 present it to Yemeni officials.

Feel free to print out extra signature pages for lots of

sign ups. When you have collected all your signatures,

 please mail it to:
