Tyndale, 0-8423-3791-1, HC, 225 pages, $19.95

Ben Fielding had abandoned his family and his religion but not his goal to build Getz International through business with China. Ben's boss sends him to China in a public relations scheme to stay with his college roommate Li Quan who introduces him to China from the viewpoint of a house-church Christian. At first Ben rejects this China, but Li Quan's arrest changes Ben's life.

Alcorn draws his main characters strongly. Occasionally the dialogue drags because he uses it to describe many of the situations that Christians face in China. However, the story grips the reader. Alcorn prevents pessimism by taking the reader to scenes in heaven. Suspense builds as heaven's citizens beg Jesus to avenge His own.

This important, gripping, informative and well-written book captures the fear, the despair, the joy, the faith and the victory of the persecuted. All proceeds relieve the persecuted church. Highly recommended.
